Late night legend Jon Stewart appeared “live via satellite” from right underneath Stephen Colbert’s desk on last night’s Late Show in a surprise appearance.

You never know when Jon Stewart is going to show up on The Late Show

Last night on the show, Stephen Colbert had a fan spend the episode underneath his desk. It was a prize she earned as part of a raffle, and it certainly must have been bizarre hanging out down there. But at least she didn’t have to endure it all alone!

During the program, Colbert told viewers the fan would be joined by a very special guest under his desk. So, reporting “live via satellite,” Jon Stewart himself shows up on camera from under the desk, and the audience is immediately psyched. And to prove he’s really there, Stewart reveals a faux paper with today’s date, remaining under the desk as Colbert continues through his monologue.

Of course, after some various jokes, Colbert checks in on the pair underneath his desk. At one point they’re having a tea party, talking about the Royal Wedding. Eventually, Colbert even ditches his chair to join the two under the desk. But of course, the bit wouldn’t be complete if Stewart didn’t actually step out from under the desk to let the studio audience actually get a look at him. At the end of the segment, he does just that along with the prize winner,
