Stephen Colbert accidentally gets audience member hit by date

Stephen Colbert thanked the one man applauding his dirty joke on last night’s Late Show, and wound up getting the poor guy hit by his date.

Be careful what you laugh at!

On  last night’s Late Show, Colbert ventured into some risque territory for his material during the opening monologue. Apparently, hundreds of men and women will attempt to set the record for the “world’s largest orgy” at an event in Las Vegas. Not one to pass up such a golden opportunity, Colbert used the situation for plenty of joke fodder.

After belting out a few quips, Colbert displays a quote from an organizer saying they’ll blow the previous record holder “out of the water.” This time, Colbert refrains from making an actual joke, telling audience members to insert their joke here – or anywhere, as it’s an orgy. To that, most of the audience doesn’t react, but one man in the front row begins to applaud.

“One man. One man is clapping,” Colbert literally points out, finding it amusing. Before moving onto the next joke however, Colbert notices something else, adding, “And his date just hit him!” Apparently embarrassed by her companion getting called out by Colbert, the woman (playfully, we assume) hit the guy to get him back. But things would only get more awkward for them both from there, as they’re then put on camera for everyone to see. At this point, the two seem to having fun, though if she was embarrassed before, she certainly had to be then!
