Stephen Colbert calls out Melania Trump for plagiarizing (again)
By Jeremy Dick
First Lady Melania Trump has been caught copying her words once again, as revealed by Stephen Colbert on last night’s new episode of The Late Show.
Once a plagiarizer, always a plagiarizer?
Last year, Melania Trump came under some fire over a speech she gave as the first lady. Fact checkers were quick to link it to a speech previously given by Michelle Obama, as the two were practically identical. You’d think that embarrassment would stop the plagiarism, but Mrs. Trump has taken to the practice once again.
Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert spoke about Mrs. Trump’s new “Be Best” campaign. As Colbert explains, Melania’s team released a booklet under the banner teaching kids and parents about internet safety. As it turns out, the booklet “almost entirely” matches a 2014 pamphlet released by the FTC — a clear case of plagiarism. Just looking at the two booklets side-by-side is really all you need to se.
“Is there any idea Melania won’t steal?” Colbert asks. He pours some salt on that wound by adding, “She already copied two other women by marrying Donald Trump!” That’s certainly true, and that’s not even mentioning the time she pilfered that speech from the former first lady.
It seems that the primary difference between the two pamphlets is that Melania slightly altered the cell phone clip art. “Be careful, Melania,” Colbert warns. “You don’t wanna give Donald any ideas about upgrading to a new model.”

Hopefully Mrs. Trump will go back to the drawing board for some original ideas the next time she’s tasked with writing something. But we’ll just have to wait and see. As for Colbert, you can watch him in new episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when it airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS!
