WWE cruiserweight champion Enzo Amore has officially been released by WWE after the wrestler was hit with allegations of sexual assaulting a woman.

It looks like Enzo Amore’s career as a pro wrestler has come to a screeching halt.

Courtesy of ScreenRant, we can report that WWE has officially released Amore. This news comes shortly after the reports have been public about sexual assault allegations against the grappler. Though the full story isn’t exactly all clear, what is apparent is that the police are actively investigating claims that Amore raped a woman back in October 2017. Especially in today’s climate, WWE wasn’t taking any chances and made the choice to release Amore as of now.

This creates a problem for the upcoming Royal Rumble pay per view. Amore was the cruiserweight champion in the company and was set for a championship match. His firing officially means that the title has to be vacated, and it’s unclear what kind of replacement match will be filling this void. Obviously, in the world of pro wrestling, match shake-ups happen all the time, even in storyline. They’ll no doubt scramble to put something together quickly as the show must go on.

Amore has yet to go to trial, and legally, he is innocent until proven guilty. If the wrestler is exonerated through the eyes of the law by the end of the trial, it’s possible WWE may bring him back then. But considering negative media attention may follow him back either way, I’m not holding my breath on that.
