Shameless: William H. Macy wins Best Actor at SAG Awards 2018

William H. Macy is doing his fellow Shameless stars proud after pulling in the Best Actor award at the 2018 SAG Awards for his role as Frank Gallagher.

There’s nothing shameless about taking home this award!

If you’re watching Shameless, you know just how insanely compelling Frank Gallagher is. Portrayed by the amazing William H. Macy, the character is a complete scoundrel, but one of the most interesting people on TV. That’s no doubt due to Macy’s performance on top of fantastic writing from the writing team.

Now, Macy gets to add to his accolades in acting as he’s just been honored at the 2018 SAG Awards. Macy officially pulled in the win for Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series. There was some steep competition here, as he was going up against Anthony Anderson, Aziz Ansari, Larry David, Sean Hayes, and Marc Maron. Still, Macy’s win is very well deserved.

Upon accepting the award, Macy told a story the misconception that an actor’s job is to lie. According to Macy, his job is to actually tell the truth, to essentially make Frank’s world into his own reality.

"“And even though our lines and the stories we’re told are given to us by writers, it’s our job, under those imaginary circumstances, to find the truth, and I think it’s a glorious way to make a living, especially in this day and age when so many people either can’t recognize the truth or don’t think it’s important.”"
