Gotham: Riddler and Penguin meet again in sneak peek photo

In a new sneak peek photo from Gotham on Fox, the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and his arch-nemesis Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) meet once again.

It seem the Riddler and Penguin are letting bygones be bygones.

In seasons past, these two Gotham supervillains have had quite a tumultuous relationship. They became best friends only to later become mortal enemies. The two still had bad blood the last time they saw one another, but in a sneak peek photo posted on Instagram by producer Danny Cannon, they seem to be back on the same page.

In the photo, Penguin, apparently having escaped from Arkham, walks down an alley with the Riddler. They’re clearly not trying to kill each other the way they might have at another time. But neither man is exactly at the top of their game anymore, either. The Riddler is still recovering mentally from unthawing from his frozen state. Meanwhile, Penguin’s sudden loss of power and escape from the looney bin has certainly taken a toll on him as well. Maybe these two will help each other find themselves once again… but how long can that friendship last?
