It’s a new year, and many fans are wondering if John Oliver will be coming back to HBO soon to resume his Emmy winning series. So, can we expect to see Oliver back tonight?

Unfortunately, no, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is not yet back. While we don’t have Oliver to look forward to tonight, the wait won’t be that much longer. Next month, Season 5 of Last Week Tonight will premiere on Feb. 18, 2018. We’ve got just over a month to go and then Oliver will be back in action every Sunday night!

Last fall, HBO gave Last Week Tonight a renewal through 2020, keeping Oliver on the air for years to come. Similarly, the network renewed Real Time with Bill Maher into 2020 as well. HBO’s two late night funnymen will be sticking around for at least the duration of Donald Trump’s first term. That is certainly good news for the president’s critics! But not so much great news for Trump himself. Oliver is going to have a lot of catching up to do when his show comes back next month…
