Stephanie McMahon announced live on WWE Raw last night that the company will soon be holding their first ever Royal Rumble with all-female participants.
A Royal Rumble match featuring only female wrestlers in WWE? If you ask me, this has been a long time coming!
Last night on WWE Raw, Stephanie McMahon hit the ring towards the end of the show to make a special announcement. Confirming that the rumors are true, McMahon says that WWE will be hosting the first ever ladies-only Royal Rumble match, set to take place next month at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
You can watch McMahon’s announcement in the video below.
The Royal Rumble match with the men is still taking place, with the winner being guaranteed a title shot for WWE’s WrestleMania 34. So we’ll be getting two Royal Rumble matches that night in what’s now surely to be an awesome pay-per-view. Those who don’t yet have the WWE Network can consider this to be a great time to check it out.
Traditionally, the Royal Rumble matches will contain 30 wrestlers. The goal is to eliminate opponents by tossing them over the top rope and ensuring both feet hit the floor. When only one participant is left standing in the ring, the match is over. As of now, it hasn’t been specified as to the total number of women in the ladies’ Rumble. But it’s doubtful to be a full 30.
