The Walking Dead star Chandler Riggs, otherwise known as Carl Grimes, made some recent comments that suggest the end of the series is on the horizon.

Is The Walking Dead walking towards its own death?

In the recent mid-season finale of the show (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD), fans had one of their biggest shocks in the series yet when a major character was revealed to have been bitten. Carl Grimes, portrayed by Chandler Riggs, has been with the show since the very start, and is very much a focal point of the entire series. So when he revealed that he was bitten by a zombie, it’s needless to say many fans weren’t too thrilled, with some even calling for the showrunner to be fired immediately.

According to ScreenRant, there’s more to the story there. Riggs had apparently sent an email to the admins at The Spoiling Dead Fans, requesting they wait until after the episode airs before spoiling Carl’s bite. You can take a look at the letter in question below:

"“Out of respect for me, for Carl, and for one of the last few seasons of the show, I’m asking you not to spoil the ending of 808 once your sources inform you of what happens.”"

Using the phrase “last few seasons” is rather curious, as it suggests Riggs knows something we don’t. There have been no official reports of The Walking Dead ending anytime soon. But if Riggs is right and we are truly in the midst of the final seasons, then that could mean that the end of the show is coming sooner than we think. Which could explain the rush in killing of another fan favorite like Carl…

Season 8 of The Walking Dead will resume on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 9/8c on AMC. Maybe if enough of us continue to tune in, it will keep the show going for longer than Riggs is suggesting.
