Stephen Colbert enlists Jodie Foster for Silence of the Lambs spoof
By Jeremy Dick
Jodie Foster reprised one of her most well known film roles for a new skit from Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, and it’s just as amazing as it is hilarious.
You’ve seen The Silence of the Lambs… but is it as scary as The Silence of the Trumps?
Last week, Stephen Colbert thought he’d have some fun with the amazing Jodie Foster, who was coming onto the show as a guest. For a new skit dubbed The Silence of the Trumps, Colbert channels Anthony Hopkins by playing Hannibal Lecter. And, what’s truly amazing, is that Foster reprises the role of Clarice Starling for the skit, and even though it’s just for a comedy segment, you’re going to absolutely love it if you’re a fan of the film!
You can watch the entire skit in the YouTube video below. As you’re watching, keep in mind that Foster hasn’t played this role in about 25 years, opting not to come back for any of the sequels.
In the bit, Clarice Starling is revealed to be working for Robert Mueller as a part of the FBI investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia. She approaches Colbert’s version of Hannibal Lecter to ask him about Trump’s collusion, and by the end of their conversation, Clarice realizes she’d be much safer inside that cell with a cannibalistic maniac, than outside of it in Trump’s America.
