Kids ask Santa about Al Franken and Roy Moore in SNL cold open

In the cold open sketch for last night’s SNL, kids take turns asking Santa about hot button topics from the news like Roy Moore and Al Franken’s scandals.
Perhaps the news is worse for the minds of our children than any movie or video game!
Last night’s new episode of Saturday Night Live kicked off with a Christmas skit for the holiday season. Kenan Thompson plays a mall Santa tasked with fielding holiday gift requests from the kids. But things quickly take a turn for the awkward when the children begin asking for very strange requests.
After asking for a couple normal things, one boy has a question for Santa: “Can you tell me, what did Al Franken do?” After fumbling through a response, Santa chalks it up to the boy as Franken being on Santa’s naughty list this year. But it’s not over… the kid follows up by asking what list Roy Moore would be on. Santa’s elf, Amy (Kate McKinnon) takes that one, responding that “it’s not really a list, it’s more of a registry.”
Things don’t get any better for Santa, as the next child gets right into another political question. She asks if Donald Trump is on the naughty list as well, to which Santa says that the president has done some naughty things this year. Of course, the elf Amy points out that there have been nineteen accusers so far, adding that we can just “Google it.” And every other kid that comes up doesn’t take it any easier on St. Nick!
