Robert Irwin channels late father Steve in Tonight Show appearance
By Jeremy Dick
The late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s son recently revisited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and he’s definitely a chip off the old block.
It seems that the apple apparently doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
On Thurdsay night, the young Robert Irwin paid another visit to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show. Robert is a spry 13 years old, yet you wouldn’t know that from watch the animal expert on the show. Clearly the boy already knows more about animals than I ever will, and watching the show I just can’t help but feel that his legendary father Steve would be so proud.
The first animal Robert brings out is an anteater, and the little guy is a bit squirmy. Jimmy steps over to help corral the animal, and the anteater starts crawling up on Fallon’s arm. The funnyman jokes that he thinks the animal drew blood, and pleads with Robert to take it back. It sets the tone for a highly entertaining segment with the young Irwin and his animal buddies.
Back in 2006, Robert’s father Steve, known to the world as the Crocodile Hunter, passed away in a freak accident involving a stingray while filming a nature special. All of these years later, he is still missed, and it’s pretty amazing to see his work continue with a new generation of Irwins.
