By Jeremy Dick
Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be back to Netflix with all new episodes after the streaming giant announced an official renewal for the series.
We’ve got some amazing news today for big fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000!
MST 3000 got its start way back in 1989, telling the story of a man being forced to watch crummy movies with two wise-cracking robot sidekicks. They’d watch actual films and dub over hilarious jokes and comments, and the show has maintained a cult following ever since. When Netflix brought the show back for Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return, it was an instant hit with old fans and new fans alike, earning an impressive 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Another season seemed imminent, but now we can celebrate as it’s definitely happening.
According to Deadline, the news is now official that Netflix is bringing back the show for a second season. Although there is no release date as of yet, we can assume it will be out sometime in 2018. Updates on the future of the project will be coming out in the weeks and months ahead, but it’s good to know for now that it’s definitely happening.
I’m an original fan of the series, having grown up watching the show. I was just as amazed with the return on Netflix, so I can’t tell you how happy this makes me.
