Larry David in hot water over SNL monologue holocaust jokes
By Jeremy Dick
Larry David may have went a little too far in last night’s Saturday Night Live monologue, telling some offensive concentration camp jokes.
Did Larry David go a great job with his monologue on Saturday Night Live last night? Not according to some people!
Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we have learned that David’s monologue last night is rubbing lots of people the wrong way. Namely, because hit hit a pretty taboo topic that some didn’t see the humor in — the holocaust. And though David is Jewish himself, some angry viewers don’t find these jokes to be very funny at all.
In the monologue, David mentions his obsession with women, theorizing how his life would be if he were growing up in Poland and sent to a concentration camp. David laments that there are no good pick-up lines that you can use in such a place, and imagines himself saying something like this to another person locked up in there:
“How’s it going? They treatin’ you okay? You know, if we ever get out of here, I’d love to take you out for some latkes. You like latkes?'”
One look at the Twittersphere and elsewhere in social media confirms that tons of people are not happy at all about these jokes. Some are ripping David for being “unfunny” and others are using hashtags like #HeBombed.
