The creator of the classic sci-fi television series Quantum Leap wants to reboot the series with a new movie, and he’s already written the screenplay.

Are you ready to take another leap?

Beginning way back in 1989, Quantum Leap entertained viewers for five intriguing seasons. The show tells the story of Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) who winds up “leaping” into the bodies of people at different points in time. The series would eventually end with a huge downer, displaying a title card informing fans that Beckett had never found his way back home.

In the years since, rumor and innuendo has been thrown around, with the show possibly seeing some kind of reboot. At one point, a new series would have seen Beckett’s daughter attempting to find him by becoming a time-traveling adventurer herself. But all of these attempts would stall, leaving the fate of Dr. Beckett a mystery.

One person who’s looking to give fans an update on the story is Donald Bellisario, the creator of the TV series. Bellisario is looking to reboot the show with an all new film, giving us an actual update on whatever happened to Dr. Beckett. The news comes courtesy of ScreenRant.

Bellisario says that he has already written a feature film, but admits that he’s not sure what’s going to happen with it, if anything. There needs to be an interest and somebody to sign off on funding and producing the feature, which is sometimes easier said than done. Ultimately we are just going to have to wait and see.
