After a deadly massacre at a country music festival in Las Vegas, Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Jimmy Kimmel opened his show sobbing and offered his thoughts.

Many of us are still trying to process the tragedy that just occurred in Nevada. It’s absolutely crushing, to say the least. And Jimmy Kimmel is feeling the pain just as much as the rest of us if not a bit more so, as the event took place in his own hometown.

At the start of last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, the usually joyful funnyman couldn’t hide his devastation. Barely even able to speak and fighting through tears, Kimmel spoke about the tragedy which is now being called the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

Try as he might, Kimmel is just like all of us in that he’s unable to figure out any kind of reason why this would happen. Thinking about the joy people were having listening to music, with Jason Aldean on the stage, and it’s just as baffling as it is heartbreaking. There were no doubt many people in the audience feeling the emotions as well while Kimmel talked about the children who’ve lost parents, and parents who’ve lost children.

“It’s the kind of thing that makes you want to give up. It’s too much for you to process,” Kimmel goes on. All that’s left for him to do is plead with American Senators to finally take some kind of action to help prevent tragedies like this from happening again.
