John Oliver destroys Donald Trump over Colin Kaepernick rant

John Oliver has come to the aid of NFL players who kneel during the national anthem as a form of protest, after Donald Trump went on a rant about them.

If you thought it was bad when Donald Trump called Colin Kaepernick a “son of a b-tch,” just wait until you see John Oliver’s response!

Just days ago, Donald Trump went on an ugly rant against NFL players who kneel during the national anthem, in particular Colin Kapernick. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b-tch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired!'” Trump was quoted as saying.

In response to this, John Oliver went on the offensive, via EW. On the new episode of Last Week Tonight (which just won four Emmys), Oliver blasted Trump hard for his attacks, and the funnyman’s remarks no doubt made the president furious. Showing a photo of Trump seemingly grinding an American flag, Oliver said: “How is kneeling in front of a flag more disrespectful to it than grinding it against your gnarled old boner?”

Oliver then roasted Trump for spending the time to go on a rant about Kaepernick at a time when millions of Americans in Puerto Rico are without power following an environmental disaster. Worse yet, Oliver noted how NFL commissioner Roger Goodell denounced Trump’s remarks, leading Oliver to offer this additional jab at the president:

“When you have lost the moral f—ing high ground to Roger Goodell, something is horribly wrong.”
