Freeform orders new Pretty Little Liars spinoff The Perfectionists
By Jeremy Dick
Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will reprise their roles from Pretty Little Liars for the show’s new spinoff on Freeform called The Perfectionists.
Hopefully, this will pan out better than the last time they tried to do a Pretty Little Liars spinoff!
Word from The Hollywood Reporter is that Freeform has ordered a new PLL spinoff. PLL showrunner Marlene King and author of the book series Sara Shepard first pitched the upcoming spinoff, The Perfectionists, back in 2014. Based on Shepard’s book, the series will connect itself with the main show, which recently came to its official close. But it looks like the PLL story isn’t quite over just yet after all.
The Perfectionists will feature both Sasha Pieterse (Ali) and Janel Parrish (Mona) reprising their roles. However, it’s also said that a new group of leading ladies will be featured on the show, so it’s not clear how big of a part Pieterse and Parrish will play. No word at this time on appearances from the four other ladies, but one would assume that at least a cameo from each is inevitable. Providing the show doesn’t get ended prematurely, of course.
From Freeform, here’s how the new spin-off is being described:
“Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.”
In the past, a PLL spinoff, Ravenswood, was pulled off the air after just one short season. Hopefully the new spinoff will have a longer lifespan.
