Jimmy Kimmel and U.S. Senator clash over Obamacare repeal
By Jeremy Dick
Jimmy Kimmel is fighting the Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, and after calling out Senator Bill Cassidy, Cassidy has responded.
On last night’s new episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel spoke about the possible repeal of Obamacare. Having a son with a congenital heart condition, Kimmel had previously championed for keeping Obamacare in place. Though he had the means to pay for it, it haunted Kimmel to think about the families out there that couldn’t.
Now with Senators voting to repeal it, Kimmel urged all of its critics to band together to fight this repeal. Deadline reports that after the show, he garnered many tweets from supporters of his cause. Names like Bernie Sanders and Nancy Pelosi applauded his efforts on their Twitter accounts. But Kimmel is also drawing some criticism as well.
Fox is quoting Cassidy as flat out denying what Kimmel is saying about him:
"“[Jimmy Kimmel] is wrong. It will increase increase coverage and it will protect those with preexisting conditions.”"
Obviously, critics of the bill aren’t buying that at all, and are saying this is going to actually throw millions of people off of healthcare.
To listen to Kimmel explain the situation as he sees it, you can watch him do so in the YouTube video below. As an American, you are free to pick whichever side you want. But Kimmel really hopes you see things his way.
