Tragedy befell the crew of the Netflix series Narcos when a location scout was shot and killed in Mexico while seeking new places for the show to film.

We’ve got some bad news to pass along today. Carlos Munoz, a location manager working on the Netflix orginal series Narcos, has been shot and killed in Mexico. All of us here at Last Night On first want to send our condolences to the friends and family at this time.

The news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter. Just outside of Mexico City, Munoz was apparently found dead in his car, which has been riddled with bullets. Munoz was sadly just 37 years old.

At this time, no suspects have been apprehended and a motive for the shooting is unclear. The THR article notes that Munoz was working alone at the time, though the area he had been scouting is “prone to murders”. It remains to be seen if this was something completely random, or something more sinister. Mexican authorities are currently investigating.

Sadly this probably seemed to Munoz at the start of the day as just another day on the job. He has done this for many major productions in the Mexico area already, including Man on Fire and Apocalyptico.

Munoz had been scouting for the upcoming Season 4 of Narcos, which will be set in Mexico. No news yet on if this tragedy will move production somewhere else. At the end of the day a man’s life is far more important than some TV show, so hopefully something can be learned from this tragedy.
