2. Bill Maher (Real Time)

Like our buddy John Oliver whom we were just discussing, Bill Maher is a comedian known for hosting a weekly talk show series on HBO. In many ways, they are similar. Neither is afraid to take on the government and mix profane humor with political commentary. But naturally, Maher is going to shine just a little more brightly than Oliver, perhaps because he’s just been such a top force in late night TV for so long.

While Oliver is four seasons into his series, Maher is nearly 16 seasons into his. Still, whenever you watch an episode of Real Time, it’s like he’s just getting started. Maher also seems to go the extra mile as far as just saying whatever the hell comes to mind, even if it gets him in trouble sometimes. Not everybody will always agree with what Maher says, but we should all appreciate that kind of brutal honesty.

It certainly helps that you are guaranteed to laugh when watching Real Time, even when we’re talking about something terrible. You know, like a potential nuclear war, or whatever else is scaring us in the news this week. I don’t know what we’d do without Bill Maher.
