Robert Zemeckis will be producing a live-action version of The Jetsons as a rebooted version of the sitcom is heading to ABC.

Who here remembers The Jetsons?

We’ve all seen it at least once or twice during our childhoods. Well, I hope you were a fan, because the Hanna-Barbera cartoon is getting new life as a multi-camera sitcom on the ABC network!

Courtesy of Variety, we can report that ABC has given the greenlight to the series, which will be executive produced by Robert Zemeckis. Jack Rapke, Gary Janetti, and Jackie Levine are also serving as executive producers. As of now, further details are not yet available, but we will be watching this story develop.

For those unaware, the series was about a family “100 years in the future”, complete with flying cars and robot maids. George, Jane, Judy, and Elroy made up the family, along with their dog Astro. The show was conceived as the polar opposite version of The Flintstones, and after a short run in the early 60s, it had a successful revival in the mid 80s. 1990 saw the release of the cartoon flick based on the series, Jetsons: The Movie.

Additionally, the Variety article notes that Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon is in talks to direct another animated Jetsons movie as well.
