Bill Maher blasts Trump supporters by asking: What if Obama said it?
By Jeremy Dick
On his return to Real Time last night, Bill Maher exposed the hypocrisy of Republicans by giving Trump a pass on things they’d condemn Obama for.
Could you imagine if Barack Obama said just a quarter of the terrible things Donald Trump says? It’s certainly very hard to picture, that’s for sure. But I have no hard time at all imagining the nuclear heat he would be exposed to after getting broiled by the right.
Last night on Real Time, Bill Maher brought up this very concept. Amused by how his supporters and colleagues simply turn a blind eye to some of Trump’s biggest blunders, Maher wonders what they would do if the shoe was on the other foot. Would they be so willing to give Barack Obama a free pass if he were to do the exact same things?
Well, let’s start with the video evidence. Maher begins by showing a clip of Trump talking about creating jobs via investing in infrastructure. His buddy Paul Ryan gives Trump a standing ovation, happily applauding. But then Maher shows a clip of Obama suggesting the exact same thing, and yet Ryan refuses to clap.
And that’s just the start of a long rant Maher dishes out on the “hypocritical” GOP. Obama was a “tyrant” for signing some executive orders; Trump does it all the time. Trump tweeted 27 times complaining about how Obama played golf as president; Donald literally goes golfing twice as much. The list goes on and on.

There’s certainly more where this came from, and several episodes are left to go before the end of the season. New episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher air Friday nights on HBO.
