Actor John Heard of ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Home Alone’ has died
By Jeremy Dick
Movie and TV star John Heard, known for many roles including a memorable stint on The Sopranos, has passed away at the age of 72.
There has been a lot of sad news to report in the entertainment world lately, and courtesy of TMZ, it looks like there’s even more to report as of today.
Film and television actor John Heard, probably best known for playing Kevin McCallister’s dad in the Home Alone movies, was found dead yesterday in a hotel room in California. Heard, 72, had been recovering in the room since having back surgery on Wednesday. It is currently unclear if complications from this surgery played a part in Heard’s passing.
While Heard can be spotted in all kinds of movies in the 80s and 90s, he’s had just as many memorable spots on TV shows as well. Perhaps my favorite television role of Heard’s is as the compelling Detective Vin Makazian on HBO’s The Sopranos. That show was full of all kinds of intense moments, but one that stands out quite a bit was (SPOILER ALERT) Detective Vin’s suicide scene.
I’ve loved Heard in all of his other roles I’ve seen him in as well, notably in the 80s horror flick C.H.U.D. He was a talent that will definitely be missed by lots and lots of people.

As of now there isn’t any news as to the cause of Heard’s death, but police are not suspecting foul play. We here at Last Night On offer our condolences to the friends, family, and fans of John Heard. Rest in peace, forever a legend of the screen.
