After officially securing a nomination at the 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards, the path is now clear for Alec Baldwin to take the win for mocking Donald Trump.

Recently, the complete list of nominations for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards had been released. Of course, there was no surprise in seeing Alec Baldwin up for an Emmy for his role as Donald Trump. He’s in the running for “Best Supporting Actor, Comedy” because of his iconic SNL appearances.
It’s obvious to everyone that Baldwin’s take on the controversial commander-in-chief has been a huge hit. SNL has been enjoying the best viewership it has had in over 20 years. Being one of the most popular aspects of the past season, Baldwin has surely been integral in bringing that success back to the long-running series.
There are some other fantastic funnymen in the running for this Emmy. This includes Ty Burrell of Modern Family, Tituss Burgess of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Louie Anderson of Baskets, and Veep‘s Matt Walsh and Tony Hale. All hilarious guys, but if we’re being honest, Baldwin’s Trump is certainly the funniest one of them all.
