On the new Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver ripped President Donald Trump a new one over his decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord.

We knew John Oliver was going to get into the Paris Climate Accord on the new episode of Last Week Tonight. President Trump’s announcement of his plans to withdraw from it has been generating a firestorm. It makes the United States one of just three countries in the world not to take part.

On HBO last night, Oliver didn’t waste much time getting to the pressing issue. And as we have all come to expect from the brutally honest comedian, he took the gloves off right away with dishing it out to the Trumpster over this inane decision.

Oliver spoke about the situation, summing it up at the start of his rant. He talks about how impressive it is that virtually the entire world found something they could all come together for. Even though the Climate Accord had some critics, achieving such a feat is nothing short of monumental.

What seems to grind Oliver’s gears the most comes down to a comment Trump made. A clip is shown of Trump justifying the decision, claiming that “the rest of the world applauded when we signed the Paris agreement. They went wild, they were so happy. For the simple reason that it put our country, the United States of America, which we all love, in a very, very big economic disadvantage.”

To that, Oliver actually loses his cool. He snaps directly to the president, “What are you talking about?! They were happy because they secured a landmark victory for the future of the planet, you f–king egomaniac!” Oliver earns a loud ovation from the audience for that one, but it’s just the start of his rant.

I’m with Oliver on this one. This situation makes no sense, and I couldn’t be happier with Oliver for calling the White House out on it. We’ve still got a few episodes left for this season’s Last Week Tonight, so be sure to catch the remaining new episodes Sunday nights on HBO.
