Bill Maher under fire for Ivanka Trump incest joke
By Jeremy Dick
Bill Maher is finding himself in some hot water due to some controversy surrounding an incest joke he made about President Trump’s daughter Ivanka.
There are many things President Donald Trump wishes he had never said. Certainly one comment that stand out is the strange statement he made about his daughter Ivanka. On at least one occasion, Trump publicly said how he “might be dating” Ivanka if she weren’t his daughter. Perhaps it was just an odd way of calling her pretty, but comedians haven’t been letting him live it down since.
One such comedian is Bill Maher, who some are saying went too far with the incest jokes on Friday’s Real Time. On the program, Maher suggests that an incestuous relationship between the two could have actually been “our saving grace”. But now some are saying that Maher crossed a line by making the joke.
While talking to New York reporter and guest Gabriel Sherman, Maher asked what to make of Ivanka’s “efforts to sort of humanize” the president. It’s in response to Ivanka seemingly backing her father blindly. Many American women had hoped that Ivanka could talk some sense into him, as he clearly won’t listen to anyone else.
Expressing his disappointment, Maher then said this about Ivanka:
"“We see all this misogyny at Fox News, we see it in Donald Trump himself. A lot of us thought, Ivanka is gonna be our saving grace. When he’s about to nuke Finland or something, she’s gonna walk into the bedroom and, “Daddy, Daddy, don’t do it, Daddy.'”"
Maher also mimics Ivanka performing a sex act — the obvious implication being that there’s a sexual relationship between the two. And it’s apparently upsetting some people who feel that this is crossing a line.

If you really know Maher, though, you know this is just who he is. Maher always says what he’s thinking, regardless how it makes others feel. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
