Donald Trump and friends celebrated the passage of Trumpcare through the House, but Stephen Colbert explains how the celebration is a bit premature.

Millions of Americans see the House passing this Trumpcare bill as horrific news. Indeed, when one considers all the lives which will be shortened if this goes all the way through, it’s definitely terrifying. It makes it that much worse when we see President Trump and company celebrating the passage as a tremendous accomplishment.

On The Late Show last night, Stephen Colbert reminded viewers that their celebration is just a little too early. The bill still has to go through the Senate, and from there, get bounced around from committee to committee. Amendments will be added, things have to be voted on, and basically, it’s an extremely complex process which takes a very long time. Obamacare isn’t quite as dead as they’re putting on, in other words.

But that the GOP is even doing this to the American people is horrible. Having a “beer bash” and making comments about how the president “punted the ball into the end zone” only makes it that much worse. As Colbert says himself for the sake of using another football metaphor, “the GOP just kicked America in the balls.”

Colbert spends the next several minutes ripping the GOP apart over this debacle. You can watch the entire take down in the video below.

As Stephen points out, Trump still has a lot of work left to do as far as killing Obamacare. Hopefully, there will be a little more decency and common sense in the Senate.
