Melissa McCarthy returned to SNL as White House press secretary Sean Spicer to address his little snafu about Hitler this week.

When White House press secretary Sean Spicer spoke in defense of president Donald Trump’s decision to bomb Syria by saying not even Hitler used chemical weapons, it felt like a Saturday Night Live skit come to life.

Naturally, SNL addressed the whole incident on this week’s live show.

Melissa McCarthy returned as Spicer, dressed as the Easter Bunny, to apologize for his snafu and explain to the world what Passover is.

An interesting tidbit from all of this is that McCarthy wasn’t in New York to film her cameo, as she has been before. With SNL airing live coast-to-coast for the first time ever, it meant that McCarthy would be able to tape her segment live in Los Angeles.

This can happen on any given week as well but the logistics of it are a lot more difficult.

As for the skit itself, it didn’t seem like the strongest outing but it was as sharp as the rest. The jokes had teeth and didn’t hold any of the force behind the punch. McCarthy may have stumbled a few different times but nothing that took away from the jokes or the setup.

The payoff at the end — one that has involved a motorized podium — McCarthy rode off in an Easter Egg cart exclaiming that Trump was probably going to bomb North Korea and this would be our last Easter on Earth.

If it is the last night on Earth, at least we got to see McCarthy return as Spicer one last time.
