John Oliver and Catheter Cowboy Explain Sexual Harassment
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver took some time this week to explain sexual harassment to Donald Trump with a new Catheter Cowboy ad.
The team over at Last Week Tonight With John Oliver have once again created an ad to educate the president on something that should be intuitive, this time the recent sexual harassment allegations against Bill O’Reilly.
To catch you up on the latest in politically-related sexual harassment scandal: The New York Times recently reported that Bill O’Reilly, host of the The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News, has paid almost $13 million in sexual harrassment settlements over the past 15 years. According to the New York Times,
"The women who made allegations against Mr. O’Reilly either worked for him or appeared on his show. They have complained about a wide range of behavior, including verbal abuse, lewd comments, unwanted advances and phone calls in which it sounded as if Mr. O’Reilly was masturbating, according to documents and interviews."
Brands subsequently pulled advertising from The O’Reilly Factor and Trump subsequently defended O’Reilly, telling the New York Times he was a good person and should not have settled.
Enter John Oliver and the Catheter Cowboy. In Oliver’s own words, “Bill O’Reilly needs advertisers, and Donald Trump needs to understand sexual harassment.”
See the spot – still pending approval by networks to be aired in New York and Washington D.C. – below.
As ever, the Catheter Cowboy puts it best: “Repeated unwanted sexual advances or obscene remarks in the work place constitutes sexual harassment. If there’s a power disparity between the two parties, well, that’s about as inappropriate as lubricating a catheter with hot sauce, partner. Why would you do that?”
