Harry Styles to join The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon on SNL in April

Harry Styles will be making his solo debut on “Saturday Night Live” on April 15 in an episode hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
NBC revealed Tuesday that One Direction member Harry Styles will be debuting new music on SNL April 15th, the first of four episodes that will air live coast to coast to close out Season 42, its most successful season in 22 years. As previously announced, the installment will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, his third time presiding over the program since he left in 2004, on the heels of the opening of his new ride at Universal Orlando.
Styles follows in the footsteps of his former and current band mates Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, who have both released successful solo projects in the past year. The singer will also be making his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Dunkirk this summer. One Direction, which officially went on break starting in March 2016, previously performed on SNL in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The stakes are not only high for Styles but also for Fallon, who lost the crown for highest-rated late-night talk show for The Tonight Show for eight weeks running, though he continues to lead in the 18-49 demo, and has closed the gap in recent weeks with the new leader, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, just one of several shows whose ratings have surged since Donald Trump became president. The coast-to-coast live nature of the episode coupled with interest from Styles’ young fan base is bound to provide the show with a ratings bump, which the network is no doubt hoping will also help Fallon gain back the audience he’s lost in the past year.

The rest of the final four episodes of the season will be hosted by Chris Pine (May 6), Melissa McCarthy (May 13) and Dwayne Johnson (May 20). The musical guests for those episodes have yet to be announced.
SNL returns April 8th at 11:30 p.m. on NBC with Louis CK as host and performances from The Chainsmokers.
