Former Breitbart writer Milo Yiannopoulos is known for making all kinds of offensive remarks. One of his most well known is the incident which saw him banned from Twitter, after harassing Ghostbusters actress Leslie Jones. He was already despised by many people when Bill Maher booked him as a guest on Real Time, drawing criticism before the episode even aired.

On the show, Bill and Milo do trade some stiff jabs at each other, but they maintain a certain level of professionalism. Still, just by having him on the show, a wave of controversy would follow. In the days after the appearance, footage would turn up of Milo seemingly endorsing relationships between older men and younger boys.
