10. Maher and Bill O’Reilly spar over the subject of religion

When it comes to the topic of politics, Bill Maher and Bill O’Reilly are vastly different. They can hardly find any middle ground on anything. But for as much as they disagree on those issues, there’s something else where they’re even more at odds. And that is the subject of religion, with the two sitting on very different sides of that fence.

In 2010, Maher joined O’Reilly on The O’Reilly Factor for a debate on the subject. O’Reilly told his viewers how Maher thinks that religious people are morons, and they’re going to take him to task for it. What ensues is a fairly heated discussion with O’Reilly and Maher, and although both remain professional, it’s clear they’re both quite agitated.

One particular quip Maher makes on the show has been quoted time and time again. He states that if Jesus were the president, “we’d probably have health care for everybody.” The two also get loud over their opposing viewpoints on religion, with Maher claiming that the Bible doesn’t make any sense. Although O’Reilly thanks Maher for coming on at the end of the show, the altercation has become one of the most memorable of Maher’s career.
