19. Maher destroys Sarah Palin by highlighting conservative disapproval

When John McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his running mate against Obama and Biden in 2008, she quickly became a conservative hero. For many supporters of the GOP, she seemed to be a white knight in shining armor, coming to save the Republicans. Even after McCain would eventually see a hearty defeat to Obama, Palin would remain popular with conservatives. She would continue to get involved in the press by criticizing the president’s actions.

Eventually, however, many conservatives were catching on to how crazy Palin really is. Some were forced to reluctantly admit that they were wrong about their potential hero. Highlighting this downfall was Bill Maher, who puts Palin on blast on an episode of Real Time. Maher shows some examples of Republicans coming clean about how wrong they were about Palin, and wonders what took them so long to realize it.

Maher compares the situation to bringing a girl home to do cocaine in the 80s. Then, she does too much and starts rambling like a crazy person. And then you can’t help but think that you have made a huge mistake here. It’s an extreme example, but oddly accurate.
