Jimmy Kimmel returned to his late night show on Monday and addressed what happened at the end of the Oscars.

This year’s Oscars went according to plan until the wheels came spiraling off in the most out of control train wreck ever. In case you somehow just emerged from the rock you were living under, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway read the wrong card at the Oscars when announcing Best Picture.

While La La Land was announced, Moonlight was the winner. The Oscars producers had to rush onto the stage and correct the mess following this historic snafu.

“All of a sudden out of nowhere it turned into one of those Maury Povich paternity test shows,” Kimmel joked about the now infamous ending to the Oscars.

Jimmy Kimmel was the host of this year’s Oscars and upon returning to his late night show on Monday, addressed what the heck happened.

“Warren ws confused so he handed it to Faye for her to read,” Kimmel said. “In other words, Clyde threw Bonnie under the bus.”

One interesting tid bit was that Kimmel mentioned how the show was originally supposed to end. Among the Jimmy Kimmel Live bits he worked into the show, Kimmel basically roasted Matt Damon all night and was going to end the show with one more troll.

Thanks to the huge mixup and the ensuing chaos, we never got to see it. Kimmel was all set up for the bit, sitting next to Damon in the audience when they noticed something was going very wrong.

“You kind of figure the host will go on stage and clear this up. Then I remembered I’m the host.” Kimmel explained.
