Jimmy Kimmel airs an apology from Uber

After a tough weekend for Uber’s public relations department, Jimmy Kimmel Live! released its own apology video for the carpool company.

It has been a wild week in the news regarding Donald Trump’s executive order that cut off immigrants from seven different countries from entering the United States. A handful of companies have felt the impact of the order, especially with how they’ve handled it.

One company that is in hot water is the popular carpool app Uber. After lowering prices to JFK Airport in response to the massive protests against Trump’s executive order, some argued that the company was trying to profit off of the situation. Uber later apologized, but the damage had already been done.

In response to the controversy surrounding Uber, the staff at Jimmy Kimmel Live! decided to come up with their own version of an apology add for the company. You can watch the apology ad in the YouTube video below.

In the parody add, Uber introduces the “Uber Sorry”, which sends an Uber driver to your location to beg for your forgiveness. Move over, UberX and Uber Lux, because Uber Sorry is the next big thing for the company.

The PR nightmare and the fallout were tough for Uber. In fact, Lyft downloads surpassed Uber downloads for the first time ever after a #DeleteUber campaign started on social media over the weekend.

Who knows whether or not this will have a long-term impact on the carpool company. However, we can at least be sure that late night shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! will continue to cover situations like this surrounding Trump’s decisions.
