Jimmy Kimmel talked to Bill Maher about that one time the next President of the United States sued him.

Donald Trump is going the inaugurated as the next president of the United States on Friday, just in time for Bill Maher’s return to late night. The Real Time host has been on hiatus for most of the winter, taking a break right after Trump won the November election.

Maher was adamant at the time that we should give Trump a chance to show that he could be a different president than the candidate he campaigned as. Over the course of the last few months, it has grown abundantly clear Trump is just as crazy as ever, and nothing is going to change.

This has caused Maher to back down from his give him a chance stance and return to attacked Trump in a style the Real Time host has perfected. Now seems to be as good a time as any to remember that the next President once sued Maher for jokes he made about the “game show host from Queens” on Real Time.

Maher made sure to reiterate to Kimmel that the suit wasn’t attempted — it was very much served to him. He also mentions that the lawsuit cost a ton of money to fight, as lawyers aren’t cheap.

This is notable in that Maher is reminding everyone how unhinged the next President might end up being. The story about the lawsuit — which centered around Maher claiming that Trump’s father was an Orangutang — was preceded by an anecdote about how Trump is unpredictable.
