Game of Thrones is deep into production on Season 7, but already spoilers are leaking that a dead character could be returning this year.

We are deep into the Game of Thrones void, as production on the upcoming season is underway. While that’s something to look forward to, it doesn’t mean that episodes are going to get to us any faster. Spoilers are our currency at the moment, and a pretty decent sized one may have dropped today.

Beware, there are massive potential spoilers ahead so be cautious about proceeding beyond this point. I don’t want to be the one you spoils anything for you — don’t put that evil on me.

Alright, last warning.

It appears that none other than Walder Frey will be returning to Westeros in Season 7 of Game of Thrones. Off the cuff, it seems like a head scratcher but it indeed makes sense when you think about it.

Tip of the cap to Winter Is Coming for the heads up on this one.

"According to his United Artists agency résumé, David Bradley will appear in Game of Thrones Season 7. Bradley, you will recall, played the acerbic Walder Frey in Seasons 1, 3 and 6 of the show."

You might be asking yourself how Walder could be rumored as coming back when we veery clearly saw him die last season. His death wasn’t some ambiguous off-screen death that maybe didn’t happen — Arya slit his throat right in front of our eyes.

As WiC points out, there is the possibility that Arya is going to simply use Walder’s face as part of her plot to infiltrate King’s Landing. There’s going to be a crossroad at some point this season where Arya chooses to return to the North with Jon and Sansa or head to King’s Landing to kill Cersei.

No matter which route she chooses, using Walder’s face to mask her travels seems like the smart thing to do.
