The Daily Show host Trevor Noah discussed the highs and lows of Sunday’s 2017 Golden Globes, including Meryl Streep’s anti-Donald Trump speech.
There was a lot going on during Sunday night’s 2017 Golden Globe Awards, including Meryl Streep’s speech after winning a lifetime achievement award. While there was a lot to talk about, there were some key issues that Daily Show host Trevor Noah wanted to break down.
During Monday night’s episode of The Daily Show, Noah discussed the amount of diversity in this year’s Golden Globes. While there were plenty of minorities who received awards during the ceremony, Noah had to call out the fact that people were getting two completely different movies in Hidden Figures and Fences mixed up because they both had leading roles featuring African Americans. In fact, some started to get them mixed up my calling them Hidden Fences.
That wasn’t the only thing that got on Noah’s nerves. While he praised Streep’s speech that called out president elect Donald Trump, he also had to point out how ridiculous it is to take shots at the NFL and mixed martial arts in the process. You can watch Noah’s entire segment about the Golden Globes in the video below courtesy of Comedy Central.

These are some great points from Noah, but the strongest message he delivered was regarding diversity. Yes, plenty of minorities were represented at the Golden Globes, but Noah feels that too many underrepresented people are cast as stereotypes in movies and TV shows. Noah says that that representation could lead to people perceiving others to be a certain way.
Noah may not be Jon Stewart, but he is starting to find his own voice on The Daily Show, and that’s all you can ask of someone trying to replace a legend.
