2. Rosita shoots Lucille, causes Olivia’s death

Rosita’s plan for killing Negan was sound off. Sure, she would end up dying when his henchmen gunned her down. But she didn’t care. Rosita didn’t feel she had anything to live for, and was willing to sacrifice herself if it meant killing Negan.

The plan was to use the bullet Eugene made to shoot Negan. With a hidden gun, Rosita fires the bullet at Negan in the wake of Spencer’s death. So, did she take out the leader of the Saviors, putting an early end to his reign of terror over their once comfortable community?

Of course, it’s never that easy. The bullet hits the baseball bat instead, blocking it from hitting Negan in the face. So Rosita is held down, and Negan orders one of his people to pick someone to kill as punishment. As we know from the premiere, Negan likes to punish infractions not by taking out the offender, but by hurting their friends instead.

The Savior lifts her gun and quickly picks a victim. Poor Olivia, who had been such a trooper putting up with Negan, is hit right in the face. Comic book readers had been expecting Spencer’s death by dad joke, but Olivia’s passing was much more surprising for everyone.
