1. Rick Is Back and Ready For Vengeance

Rick got his mojo back. That’s what we’re left with at the end of this midseason finale, and it’s really the only way to put it. The band got back together at the end of the episode, but there is still a lot of work to be done before any vengeance is taken. That being said, this is the first time that The Walking Dead has left us with any sort of hope this season — and really for a very long time. Rick has been beaten down emotionally and physically all season, ditto for Daryl and Maggie. The whole group has been suffering in a very depressing ways though the first eight episodes of this season, but there now seems to be serious hope that things will end on a happy note at some point in the near future.

The biggest takeaway was that Rick appears to have gotten his mojo back. He was badly shaken by the events of the season premiere, as we saw Negan whip him into emoionjal submission in a way no one ever has before. He now seems to have broken free of that mind game and is back to his ld bloodthirsty ways. Rick knows that the only way to survive is to fight, something Michonne has said to him emus times. But the message finally got through when Spencer tried to usurp him and Aaron was beaten to a bloody pulp for no good reason.

He’s been mentally laying in the weeds all season long, but it appears Rick has his groove back — which is bad news for Negan and the Saviors.
