4. Negan makes Carl sing him a song

Negan seems impressed by how Carl infiltrated his compound. He sees him as a “future serial killer” and is really entertained by him. But the fact remains that Carl killed two of the Saviors. That can’t go without punishment, as it’s a violation of the rules. And Negan is just getting started in teaching Carl how important the rules are.

He begins with having Carl remove the bandage covering his eye. Negan humiliates Carl by talking about how disgusting he looks. It leads to Carl crying, at which point Negan apologizes. But he’s not done with putting Carl in his place.

He then orders Carl to sing him a song. Any song. He doesn’t buy it when Carl says he can’t think of any. Perhaps a song his mother used to sing to him would suffice? Apparently so, as Carl does conjure up a tune Lori would have sung to him years ago.

In a truly unsettling scene, Negan watches with glee as Carl struggles with the tune. Through sobs, Carl sings “You Are My Sunshine” to Negan’s amusement. It’s all for the best Rick wasn’t there to see this as it was horrifying to watch.
