2. The series takes place out of order with two (or more) timeframes

This particular theory has been talked about at length since basically the start of the show. Given how vague and mysterious everything about Westworld is, right away you know this is a possibility. Like a Quentin Tarantino film, the idea is that many of the subplots you see unfolding on the HBO show are taking place at completely different times.

For example, there are many characters you never see in the same place at the same time. This is in regards to the human characters, anyway. You’ll see various hosts interacting with different human players, but never at the same time. That’s easy to explain as the hosts would always remain the same, even if the guests would always be different.

Just think back to when the Man in Black had been carrying around the criminal mastermind he’d kidnapped. Eventually, the MiB would slit his throat and be done with him, leaving him hanging from a tree. But in another subplot involving William and Dolores, that same character is actively working with them.

Did the Westworld staff collect his body, patch him up, and reset him back at his starting point? Or are these events taking place at entirely different times?
