Kate McKinnon (New York)

As you can imagine, there are tons of actors and actresses coming out of the great state of New York. They don’t have to go far to get a start in the field. This makes the playing field very crowded when trying to pick the best New Yorker playing on television.

But in the end, I’m going with Kate McKinnon. You can say she’s a movie star now, having appeared as one of the main stars in 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot. The movie wasn’t a huge financial and critical success, though most agree McKinnon is the least of its problems. Because she’s already been proving for years just how hilarious she is.

McKinnon is arguably the biggest current member of the Saturday Night Live cast. Being election season and all, she’s been playing Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in weekly sketches. Her other most memorable running impersonation is of Ellen DeGeneres. Undoubtedly, these impressions are one of the biggest highlights of modern episodes of SNL.

The funny lady’s television work has gotten her four Primetime Emmy Awards nominations. Of those, she took in a win for Outstanding Supporting Actress for a Comedy Series. She is definitely someone that is deserving.
