Amy Poehler (Massachusetts)

Poehler is impressively an 18-time nominee at the Primetime Emmy Awards. Most recently, she won the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series because of Saturday Night Live. Her comedy work on TV is nothing short of tremendous and she remains of the funniest actresses on screen.

Poehler was born and raised in Massachusetts. After earning a degree at Boston College, she would move to Chicago to work on comedy. She founded the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe with Matt Walsh, Matt Besser, and Ian Roberts. The group then got their own TV series on Comedy Central which ran for three seasons.

Eventually, Poehler was cast on Saturday Night Live. As we all know by now, she became one of its brightest performers ever. For years, Poehler killed it on the show, and continues to do so every time she makes a guest appearance. If Hillary Clinton becomes our next president, we can probably expect to see more Poehler impressions of her in guest spots for the next several years.

But arguably Poehler’s greatest work is as Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. The acclaimed mockumentary comedy series ran for many years and is one of the funniest sitcoms of all time.
