George Eads (Texas)

The TV actor George Eads grew up in Benton, Texas, where he was born. After attending university, he found work as a copy machine salesman. But selling office equipment quickly lost its appeal for Eads who preferred to perform, so the aspiring actor moved to Los Angeles to try his hand in the field.

Eads’ first break came when he starred in the pilot episode of the soap Savannah. His character died, but the fans still liked him so much he continued to appear in flashbacks. Eventually, an identical twin character was written in just to keep Eads on the program.

Later, Eads nabbed a starring role in the crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He plays the criminal investigator Nick Stokes. This is likely where he is best recognized, having stayed on the series until its eventual end. It’s probably not coincidental that the show was canceled right after Eads announced his departure, following a disagreement with the writers.

You’ll nowadays see Eads on the reboot series MacGyver, playing Jack Denton. The show currently airs new episodes on CBS. Reviews for the series are wildly mixed, though many critics agree that Eads’ spot in the cast is one of its qualities.
