30 times Bill Maher embarrassed republicans

8. Maher says that Donald Trump’s philosophies are straight from the 50s
A lot of us remember the 1950s as a simpler time when things were greater. Admittedly, there are a lot of awesome parts of the decade. The music was phenomenal, featuring the likes of Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Those cars from the time period are also some of the most attractive you’ll ever see. If nothing else, Back to the Future makes it seem like a fun place to hang out.
But there’s certainly an ugly side to the 50s many of us forget about. As a culture, we still had a lot of ground to make in terms of equality. Racism and sexism were still very strong during this time, which was very normal during the 50s. For all of the cool cars and music, the politics from this decade really suck.
On Real Time, Bill Maher talks about how GOP representative Donald Trump would fit right in as a 50s politician. His views on minorities and women strike a chord with the many people who follow him. But the truth of the matter is that these ideas are horribly outdated. Donald Trump is a 50s man alright, but not in the Fonzie way.
