13. Maher explains why establishing “death tax” isn’t a bad thing

The phrase “death tax” doesn’t sound like a great thing if you have no context on what it means. But what it comes down to is taxing inherited wealth. Republicans seem to think cutting food stamps for hungry poor people is a better way of saving money than taxing exorbitant amounts of inherited cash.

On Real Time, Bill Maher talks about everything wrong with this philosophy. How can the GOP slash benefits for those in need and suggest entitled rich kids should get to blow crazy money on who knows what? But it’s better to use some actual examples to demonstrate the point, as Maher does in the segment.

One great example is Kylie Jenner. Considering Caitlin Jenner’s deadly accident she was involved in, you’d think Kylie may have learned something. However, she was seen texting and driving since then. It’s probably that sense of entitlement that lets these people feel like they can do whatever they want.

Maher also pokes out the extreme hypocrisy of the GOP here. For as much as they complain about people “taking free money”, it seems to be more than OK when it’s the children of billionaires.
