Stephen Colbert to host Live Election Night Special on Showtime

Late Show host Stephen Colbert will be getting his own Election Night special, which will be airing live on Showtime.

The 2016 presidential election has many people frustrated, but it has been great for late night programs like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Now, Late Show host Stephen Colbert will be getting a unique platform to talk about the election.

On election night, Colbert will be hosting a live special on Showtime. The event will be called “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t?” and will be airing at 11 p.m. ET on the night of the election.

“It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime,” Colbert said according to Variety.

Both CBS and Showtime are owned under the CBS Corporation, making this event an easy one to plan out between Colbert and the premium cable network. Since Colbert usually has to censor himself on CBS, we’re extremely curious to see how over the top he will get on Showtime with the ability to swear as much as he pleases.

For those who haven’t been keeping up with The Late Show lately, Colbert has been going at republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hard. He’s far from the only one doing so, but he’s definitely had some of the stronger shots at Trump. Giving Colbert the opportunity to rip Trump live on election night on a platform like Showtime could make for some genuinely entertaining programming.
