18. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg rape Indiana Jones

“The China Problem” is a season 12 episode which has an offensive enough main story. Cartman mistakenly believes the Chinese will soon be invading South Park. Utilizing Asian stereotypes, Cartman works on a plan to stop this impending “invasion”.

But it’s really the subplot of the episode which viewers remember more. Early in the show, the boys refer to sitting and doing nothing as a friend was raped. It’s a curious thing to say, and it soon reveals that Indiana Jones is the friend they’re referring to. And the rapists are Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

The “rape” is a symbol of the desecration of the Indiana Jones character. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is very disappointing for fans of the franchise. Spielberg and Lucas reviving it for such an awful movie is practically like raping the character. It’s all just a metaphor.

But, metaphor or not, nothing is left to the imagination. We literally see Lucas and Spielberg hold down Dr. Jones and commit the act of rape. While many fans certainly agree that Indiana Jones was best left as a trilogy, showing such a brutal rape (multiple times in one episode) might’ve been too much.
